I Fell In Love With Sublime Text

As long as I can remember I used the program Eclipse and later Aptana for developing websites, scripts & more. In the past, I often had many issues with Eclipse. Either it was the worst central memory management from Java or the installed extensions made themselves self-employed and much more. Now I’m very happy with Sublime Text and a development environment with which I can work very well.

A few weeks ago a web research brought me to a blog article that compares editors for web developing. In this article, I stumbled over Sublime Text and tried it out. The last time I saw Sublime Text in action was on a MacBook from an ex-colleague and I wasn’t excited about Sublime Text. Just a few hours later, I finished the tryout and changed my opinion about Sublime Text. It’s very handy, easy to extendable and goes very well and efficiently with my system resources. From now on, Eclipse no longer exists on my systems, and I decided only to use Sublime Text.

For an efficient workflow with Sublime Text, I needed some of the packages I got from the Sublime Text package manager or GitHub. There you have access to hundreds of packages and with the extension Package Control, it’s very easy to add those packages to your Sublime Text application.

In addition to the packages, I also needed a good color theme which I get from the Colorsublime website. By the time it’s very tiring and strain on the eyes to work with a lighter theme. Instead of a theme with a white background and a heavy colorized syntax highlighting, I was looking for a darker theme and found with the  SolarSooty Theme a clean and darken theme which it’s much more pleasant to work with Sublime Text.

And last but not least, two of my custom config files and a list of my installed packages which should serve as a suggestion and inspiration:
